The Seiko Prospex SRPA19K1 Zimbe Turtle is a limited edition watch released to the Thailand market in 2016. Seiko has since released a whole range of Zimbe models in various collections (Turtle, Mini Turtle, Shogun, etc) but this was the first one. And, it was only produced in 1299 pieces, so it is actually quite rare. Of course, some of the later models had far smaller production runs, but none will be the first, like this one.
Unlike many of the newer Zimbes, this model is actually quite unassuming in its look. It comes with the typical Seiko Turtle diver look – raised bright Lumibrite on the pips and hands. A large and easy to use unidirectional, easy to read, black and white bezel for timing those dives. A clean matt grey face to help contrast those bright pips, with additional “Limited Edition” lettering in orange at 6 o’clock.
Unlike most other Seiko divers in their range, this model also has a Rolex-style “cyclops” magnifier to help read the day/date window at 3 o’clock.
Outside of these small changes and cosmetic additions, this watch is a standard Seiko Turtle in all other regards.
You can typically find these hard to get watches on eBay for just over two thousand, or lower if you are lucky. But given they are nearly 5 years old and had a limited edition run for the Thai market, they are not easy to come by. And maybe you just want to get a standard Seiko Turtle for a fraction of the price instead?
