Negative display is very “in” at the moment. From the “dark” website and app backdrops we are all seeing, to their use in watches. If you like something a little different, or easier to read in bright light, this is the watch style for you.
G Shocks in particular, because they are often digital, have a few options with negative displays. And in this post I am going to show you the best negative display G Shock watches I have found.

Getting back to the more old school (retro) Casio G Shocks, this watch comes in a variety of colors, but you likely won’t find that many on the US marketplaces. These are Japanese only watches.
It’s is one of the simplest, back to basic G Shocks with a negative display. Although, it comes with all the basic digital watch functions like 5 alarms, backlight, stopwatch, countdown.
The water resistance is 200m like all G Shocks, so you know you can wear this almost anywhere!
This G Shock also has a negative display, which is definitely the way to go if you want a blackout military-style watch. Everything is black on this baby!
Yes, it’s 200m water resistant, shock resistant, like all G Shocks. And it has the standard features too: Full auto-calendar (until the year 2099), EL Backlight with Afterglow, Stopwatch.
Another very simple Casio G Shock with negative display is the DW5700BBM. It has a rounder more modern look than the retro one above, but is otherwise very similar.
Another watch that is extra large at 53mm, but not as large as the first G Shock above (which was 55mm). This one is military green is one of four colors this particular model comes in.
This is a very modern G Shock, which you will have certainly seen before. It’s a dual display with both analog and digital, with the day also on the digital part.
If you are worried about keeping your watch free of scratches or have a tendency to use it in tough situations, then this is a better watch than the simpler models for sure!
